Applications for the Craftadian Made in Hamilton is open, applications closed May 20, 2018.

We’re on the lookout for new and returning artisans pushing the boundaries of craft, food and design who want to share their work and vision to make Craftadian an authentic and lively handmade marketplace.

The goal of MADE IN HAMILTON is to highlight those makers in the Hamilton and surrounding areas (see cities below). Makers outside Hamilton and the surrounding area (as noted) may only apply for the island section, outside.

  • Criteria

    Open to Canadian artists, artisans and designers. Food Vendors are welcome to apply.

    "Made in Hamilton" Market (inside and outside spots available)
    Open to all Hamilton and surrounding area makers including: Hamilton, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Burlington, Brantford, Grimsby, Binbrook, Mount Hope, Waterdown and Niagara Region. Exception to food trucks and food vendors.

    Island Section (section, Outside)
    We will have a small area of the show (outside) that will be open to makers outside the Hamilton and surrounding area that may be considered.

    Rates:
    Emerging Artists: 4′ table top display (Atrium, limited to 8) $125.00
    Inside: 6' table or 6' wide space (Atrium Premium Area) $140.00
    Outside: 10'x10' Outdoor Space, includes 6' table (Outside) $155.00

    APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 20, 2018

    One Chair is included. Table Clothes are not provided.
    Indoor 6' wide space: if you’d rather have a rack, grid wall or shelf (max 6' wide) in lieu of your table it is acceptable, but you cannot have both.

  • Social Media and Maker Promotion

    Craftadian has an extensive advertising, promotion and public relations campaign to promote the shows. We also have campaigns where gifting products to bloggers, media may be optional. Each exhibitor will be mentioned on our social media channels

    We do expect our makers to help promote the show to family, friends, fans and community, and regular sharing on social media. This builds a stronger community and stronger attendance.

    Swag Bags: Customers line up 1-2 hours before the show opens to get a coveted swag bag. We are requesting the ALL exhibitors donate at least 10 (up to 50) swag inserts, something small (sample size) that represents your business (no paper unless you are a paper vendor ie card or tag).

  • Jury Requirements

    Exhibitor spaces are restricted to 'handmade' exhibitors. Products MUST be Made in Canada by the applicant. As this is a juried show, please submit 3-5 photos of your products (including one of your booth) with your application for consideration. Applicants will be selected based on category, photos, product and quality. Limited vendors in similar categories.

    Handmade Exhibitors Only.
    ALL products must be handmade or have a component of handmade
    ALL products must be Made in Canada by the applicant.

  • Please include your product line and prices.
  • Please only list juried shows
  • A chance to tell us how your products are different or share your unique story, were you featured in a publication, won awards - tell us what makes you different.
  • Photos

    Quality images are one of the most important piece of your application. The jury is looking for 3-5 quality, well lite photos of your work and one photo of your overall set-up.

    The jury strongly suggest single product photos (no colleges please) with a white or wood background.

  • If you do not have a photo of your booth/table, please submit a sketch or a mock photo of your display.

    Indoor Space: Due to limited spaces, your display MUST BE table-top only or you may have a 6' rack display but you cannot have both **
    Outdoor: 10'x10' area (bring your own tent), includes 6' table and chair
    As per the City of Hamilton, Public Health Department - all food vendors must complete the Food at Special Events form. There is an administration fee of $32.74 + HST to each FOOD vendor.

    Notes to comply with City of Hamilton, Public Health:
    * All food served at Special Events must be prepared in a licensed and approved Commercial Kitchen.
    * No home prepared or home canned food can used, sold or given away at Special Events

    CANCELLATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
    1. An exhibitor may cancel their application no later than the application deadline of May 20, 2018.
    If a cheque was provided the cheque will be voided and returned).
    2. After application deadline May 20, 2018. and upon acceptance of application the exhibitor fee and deposits are non-refundable **
    3. Should an exhibitor cancel after application deadlines (May 20, 2018) or fail to attend on event day, Show Management reserves the right to
    a) Retain all payments (upon acceptance of application the exhibitor fee is non-refundable) and/or
    b) Re-rent the exhibition space.

    PAYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
    1. Upon accepted, an invoice will be sent. Payments are due (June 11 2018); If non-payment after June 11, 2018 a $10 late fee will be added;
    2. One payment reminder will be sent (only one – we will not chase you);
    3. If non-payment by (June 18, 2018) and you have not contacted us; you will forfeit your spot into the show.
    4. Exhibitor fees are non-refundable upon acceptance.
    5. All fees are subject to HST (13% Harmonized Sales Tax).

What is the application criteria?

    • SPECIAL CRITERIA FOR MADE IN HAMILTON MARKET ONLY: Made in Hamilton is open to makers in the Hamilton and surrounding areas (Hamilton, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Burlington, Brantford, Grimsby, Binbrook, Mount Hope, Waterdown and Niagara Region) There is a special island feature open to makers outside the Hamilton area.

How much are booth fees?

The 2017 fees range from $125 – $140 depending on the event size, booth type and location.

How will the show be advertised?

The shows will be advertising in local newspapers, flyers/coupon distribution, email marketing (over 8000 opt-in subscribers), paid and organic ads social media (facebook, twitter, instagram). There also are PR opportunities such as TV Guest Appearances, Blogs and Newspaper Articles. Craftadian events and it’s exhibitors have been featured on TV (CHCH Morning Live, CHCH Evening News, Global News at noon, CP 24, Rogers Daytime, Hamilton Life) in Blogs (BlogTO, Lil Miss Kate) and in Newspapers (Hamilton Spectator, Mississauga News, Milton Champion, Guelph Tribute). How many visitors come to the events?

In 2016 we moved our events to smaller venues to create an intimate shopping experience. Our 2017 attendance at these venues ranged between 1500 – 2000 visitors.

What is the jury process?

Applicants would submit an application that includes photos of your work, description of your craft and details about your business. Following the application deadline, each application is ranked by each of the jurors – the scores/notes are tabulated and sorted by category. Your application may be ranked on based on handmade quality, photos of your work, booth set-up, and the information you provide in your application. The jury will limit the number of successful applicants per category to ensure that there is a healthy and diverse selection of vendors. Applicants that are not selected will be placed on a waitlist.
